The First European PhD Complexity School: Agent-Based Studies of Social, Economic and Industrial Systems

Time of the event
Event's start::
10 Apr 2007
Event's end::
14 Apr 2007

Location:

I.S.I. Foundation

Dates:

April 10-14, 2007

Organizers:

Diana Mangalagiu and Sorin Solomon

Description:

The school will expose the students to data, computational techniques and theoretical concepts in complexity. The application fields will range from social studies (e.g. migration within the enlarged EC), to economic growth processes (e.g. East European transition), and the dynamics of organizations (emergence of hierarchical / (information) supply chains/networks within and between enterprises).

The emphasis will be on exposing in detail specific applications where the integration between the theoretical, computational and empirical studies has already been achieved or at least has began.

New directions of research for young PhD students under common collaborative supervision by interdisciplinary groups will be offered by the teachers and developed in special sessions.

The hope is to end-up with specific directions for PhD proposals and other interdisciplinary projects where the students will constitute the converging point of the various disciplines.
